Turkish sailing holiday - making new discoveries
Yacht Getaways’ Explorer sailing holidays in Turkey include an overnight stay at this magical little island, with its lush and vibrant vegetation and interesting church and crypt ruins to explore. One of the crypts contains a beautifully-preserved fresco depicting St Christopher on Karacaoren.

The waters around the island is crystal clear and there is fascinating marine life to be found around the reef. It is a popular location for both scuba diving and snorkelling.

The reef and island both help to protect the bay of Karacaoren, which lies 2.25 nautical miles in an easterly direction from Dokukbaşı Burun, making it a popular location for stop-overs during sailing holidays in Turkey.

On the northernmost side of Karacaoren bay is a unique restaurant, which sits on stilts and soars 20 feet over the water’s edge. Sitting on the long veranda, there are spectacular views of the imposing Baba Dağ mountain and easterly towards Olu Deniz.

The mountain views can be particularly stunning views of the mountain at sun set when the sun reflecting off Baba’s steep scree sides creates a rainbow of golden colours.
