Known locally by its day of operation, the Tuesday Market in Fethiye is a must-see on your visit here. Just about everything is for sale here, including the freshest fruit and vegetables, leather goods and the famous Turkish kilims or rugs. Locally-produced cosmetics such as olive oil soap jostle for space alongside stalls selling all kinds of clothing and shoes.

Food lovers will find plenty to delight, with a dazzling array of flavoured teas, such as apple or cinnamon, and delicious Turkish coffee. There is great selection of Turkish delight, or lokum, available, of course, both in traditional rose and a variety of more unusual flavours. Most stalls offer either pre-packaged sweets or you can simply pick and mix your favourites into a box, which makes a great present.

Most of the traders set out their wares under canvas awnings, meaning you can wander among the shaded stalls and take your time browsing for souvenirs. There are also plenty of places to find refreshments such as pancakes or tasty savoury breads.

The canal-side location makes this a lovely spot to stroll and soak up the authentic market atmosphere, grabbing plenty of bargains along the way.
