Boasting two translucent saltwater lakes, Mljet island is home to the Mediterranean’s largest coral reef, making it the best snorkelling in Croatia. Head from town to the National Park by hiring a bike. Follow the road along the easy-to-follow trail which and stop along the way for photo opportunities as well as a dip in the shallow end of the lakes. Park the bikes and grab the boat out to the middle of the larger lake to see the small island home to a 12th-century benedictine monastery.
