Visit The Oldest Distillery In Athens

First opened in 1909, Brettos has earned the title of the oldest distillery in Athens. There are hundreds of differently coloured bottles lining the interior walls, which contribute to a truly unique and memorable atmosphere. The distillery produces brandy, raki, tsipouro, and ouzo, but you can also choose from more than 200 cocktails and 170 varieties of Greek wines too.

Dine On The Plaka Stairs

If you’re into grabbing a bite to eat in slightly unusual locations, dining on the Plaka stairs is an incredibly enjoyable experience. The stairs are lined with delicious restaurants and eateries on both sides, making choosing where to dine one of the most difficult decisions you’ll have to make during your time in the city!

See 2,000-Year-Old Computer On Your Sailing Holiday

The Antikythera Mechanism is a remarkable feat of ancient engineering. After being hidden beneath the waves within a shipwreck just off the coast of the island of Antikythera for centuries, divers uncovered it in 1900. It sat, untouched, in a local museum for almost 50 years before it caught the attention of historians. We won’t give too much away, but the mechanism was built in around 200BC and is incredibly technologically advanced for its age.

See The Lanterns Of Pittaki Street

More than 100 lanterns, chandeliers, and lamps illuminate this small alley in central Athens. Local residents donated lanterns and lamps in various styles and colours, including 1940s fringed lamps and Chinese paper lanterns, to reflect the multicultural heritage of the city, and the result is incredibly beautiful.

Visit The Little Metropolis Church

All too often this little church is overshadowed by its larger and more contemporary relations. However, some of the best things some in the smallest packages, and the Little Metropolis Church is more than worth your time.
