Appreciate Secret Sipan With A Croatia Sailing Holiday

Croatia is amply furnished with gorgeous islands, many of which are popular tourist destinations. There are plenty more that are less well-known, which make them ideal destinations to explore on a Croatia sailing holiday. One of the most charming is Sipan, the largest of the Elaphiti Islands.

This pretty little isle has been a favourite destination for summer getaways amongst Dubrovnik city-dwellers since the 15th century. Many wealthy families built impressive homes here, including the Rector’s and Skocibuha palaces in pretty Sudurad. In addition to these impressive examples of architecture, there are a couple of pretty churches to visit in larger Sipanska Luka.

The interior of the island is lush and green with delightful orchards of fig trees and scented citrus groves; in addition, many vineyards support the island’s thriving wine business. It is definitely worth sampling some wine whilst you are here and trying the fabulous seafood. This is caught locally and served as fresh as it can be at the charming harbourside konobas in the fishing town of Sipanska Luka.

In the evenings, watch the sun go down as you enjoy a drink in one of the waterside bars and simply soak up the laidback atmosphere of this easy-going island gem.
