Yachting around the Mediterranean is the perfect way to soak up some sun, relax on a beach and see some culture, but what could put you more in the holiday spirit than a few cocktails? Greek islands sailing is the ideal opportunity to treat yourself to a few delicious drinks, with some great new Greek twists on old favourites.

Ouzo, of course, is the most famous drink in Greece, with its distinctive aniseed flavour usually enjoyed with water or ice. Served in small dainty glasses, it is the ideal digestif but also popular at any time of the day. Unsurprisingly, it also forms the basis for many local cocktails. The ouzito is a Greek version of the famous Cuban mojito, using this distinctive flavour. Mint leaves, lemon juice and sugar are combined with the ouzo and poured over ice to create a delicious drink.

The Greeks also have their own twist on a classic mojito, using another of their favourite ingredients. Rum, lime and sugar syrup are combined with fresh blended watermelon for a refreshing drink guaranteed to keep you cool even on the hottest days. For an indulgent treat, try the Greek island martini. Combining Greek brandy, Cointreau, lemon juice and traditional lemonade, it is the ultimate way to raise a glass and toast your Greek islands sailing adventure. Yamas!
