Gorgeous Gradina Bay With Croatian Island Cruising

The island of Korcula may be famous for its enchanting Old Town, said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, but there are plenty of other special spots on this isle. One of the most picturesque is undoubtedly Gradina Bay, popular with sailors looking to moor in lovely surroundings.
Just a couple of miles from Vela Luka, Gradina Bay is one of the perfect undiscovered gems for which Croatia is known. Offering a glimpse of rustic Dalmatia, it is an ideal stop-off when you are Croatian island cruising. Many boats choose to moor here, with the anchorage well protected from strong winds thanks to a small islet just off the coast. The beach is perfect for families with small children, as the water is very shallow and gently shelves down to the sheltered sea.
Those interested in local architecture will find remains dating back several hundred years. The 15th-century church of St John is well worth a look and visitors are also drawn by the splendid natural beauty of this bay. Numerous pine and olive groves fill the air with their delicious scent; in addition, Gradina Bay boasts some of the most beautiful sunsets to be found in Croatia.
