Sailing trips to Turkey - Coastal towns to visit

Once a bustling village largely inhabited by Greeks, Kalamaki became Kalkan after the 1923 population exchange and was transformed into a vibrant holiday resort. The town is superbly located, backed by spectacular mountains and overlooking a beautiful bay. As you might expect from a destination popular with the yachting set, there is a lovely marina with plenty of bars and cafes where you can relax in comfort. The food here is exceptionally good, with lots of restaurants offering everything from local delicacies to globally-renowned high-end cuisine.

Aside from soaking up the excellent food and wine, there is plenty to occupy your time in Kalkan. Wander among the winding streets, relax on the beach, or try your hand at some of the water sports available; the clear waters are perfect for snorkelling or scuba diving. Kalkan is also an excellent base from which to explore some of the nearby historical sites. The ancient Lycian cities of Patara, Pinara and Xanthos are just a short distance away, whilst the Saklikent Gorge is the ideal place for a rejuvenating hike in the lovely Turkish countryside.

From leisurely lunches in top restaurants to wonderful walks amongst the splendid surroundings, Kalkan offers everything you could wish for from a holiday destination.
