Which Sailing Boat is Right for Your Luxury Yacht Holiday?

By Ryan Brown published on 22 May 2023

There’s nothing quite like exploring breathtaking Mediterranean destinations aboard a luxurious yacht. Whether you’ve been on a sailing holiday before or it’s your first time sailing, choosing the right type of sailing yacht can feel like a tough decision. Yacht Getaways offers two main types of yachts: Superior and Prestige. This guide will break down the differences between these two yachts and help you determine which type of sailboat is right for you and your travel style on your luxury yacht holiday.

Yacht Getaways Superior Yacht

Our Superior yacht class is the best all-arounder for any traveller or group. The Superior yacht is the perfect choice for those who want to experience a luxury sailing getaway with ample space for unwinding in the rooms, communal areas, or above deck. There is plenty of room to relax, yet the boat doesn’t feel too big to get to know the others aboard. Jump on the helm and learn to sail with the skipper, soak up some rays on the netting at the bow, or sip a cocktail in the lounge area at the back.

Launched after 2019, the Superior Yachts are our newest yachts in the fleet. They’re between 40ft-45ft and can accommodate up to eight people. The cabins on these yacht sailing types are amazingly comfortable and modern, with ensuites with fans, cabin AC, and charging points. You’ll have your pick of areas to kick back and relax with swim platforms, sunbathing spots on the bow, and large communal areas in the back. It’s also our top choice for small groups or couples and is a great way to have a luxury yacht holiday while meeting and socialising with the other travellers onboard.

The Breakdown:

– 40ft-45ft catamarans

– 4 Ensuite Cabins

– Launched after 2019

– Swimming platforms

– Features communal & cabin AC

– Crew accommodation with shared facilities

Yacht Getaways Prestige Yacht

The Prestige Yacht is the epitome of luxury on the water. If you’re looking for maximum space and comfort or bringing a large group or family on a luxury yacht holiday, this yacht is for you. These yachts are larger than the Superior class, ranging from 50ft-54ft, and can accommodate 10-12 people. The ensuite cabins on the Prestige Yachts are incredibly spacious and equipped with all the amenities you could ask for, with various layouts from standard to king-sized suites. The Prestige yachts have communal AC and cabin AC, fans, plenty of charging points, and more storage space.

An excellent choice for those who want to experience the ultimate leisure on the water, the Prestige class easily accommodates larger groups or families who want to spend quality time together while exploring these stunning locales. Planning a big family getaway or a large group escape together? The Prestige is your boat. The large sunbathing platforms, a massive lounge area at the bow, and huge communal spaces in the kitchen and rear of the yacht create unmatched comfort. Sip a cocktail on the spacious upper deck, learn the ropes while sailing, bask in the sun, or have a sunset aperitif party with the whole group on the bow.

Which Yacht is Right for You?

Now that we have explored the differences between the Superior Yacht and the Prestige Yacht, it’s time to determine which yacht is right for you. Here are some key factors to consider when making your decision:

Group size: Another important factor to consider is the size of your group. If you are travelling with a small group or as a couple, the Superior Yacht is perfect for you. However, if you travel with a larger group or family, the Prestige Yacht is the better choice as it can accommodate up to 10-12 people.

Amenities: The amenities available on each type of sailing yacht are also important factors. The Superior yacht has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable experience and almost everything you’d find on the Prestige yachts. Yet the room sizes, communal spaces, and outdoor areas are larger on the Prestige yachts.

Experience: Consider what kind of experience you want on the water. The Superior is wonderful if you want to socialise with other guests on holiday or are travelling as a couple or small group. If you are planning to spend more time on the yacht with your group or family or looking for the most spacious option, the Prestige offers enough space to make it easy to socialise or escape from the group for a bit of the day.
